Clinching is an alternative method to spot welding, riveting, screwing, or gluing.
It involves joining sheets and profiles of different materials, sizes, and thicknesses using a process known as penetration joining. Depending on the design or customer requirements, different clinch point geometries are used.
Whether round spot, oval spot, multiple spot, flat spot, or bar spot—with our NIMAK clinching brackets, we offer a cost-effective solution for your sheet metal connection.
Always with the goal of offering the highest level of quality and durability.
As with our spot and projection welding machines, we use our modular system to tailor the design to your specific application.
- Individually configurable using a modular system
- With pneumatic or servo-electric drive
- For workshops and industry
- Control via MultiCONTROL system
- Weight-optimized and space-saving C-module
Why clinching?
The clinching process does not require any electricity, which not only ensures clean system operation but also reduces your costs.
There are also other advantages, such as:
- No heat exposure – form-fitting and force-fitting connection
- Connection of different materials
- No contamination of the device and components
Reproducible joining process
How exactly are the sheets connected to each other?
- The connection is made in three main steps: clamping, deep drawing, and locking
- Clamping: Stamp with hold-down device is positioned
- Deep drawing: Stamp penetrates the material, and the sheet metal pair is pressed into the die opening
- Clinch point is set
- Locking: Material flows toward the yielding lamellas
Benefits in an overview:
Individually configurable
With a NIMAK clinching bracket, you don't get an off-the-shelf machine. In our laboratory, our experts test the sample pieces you supply and adjust the parameters precisely to your requirements. The finished clinching bracket is then designed exactly for your manufacturing task and, thanks to its extensive modular design, is delivered quickly and cost-effectively.
Robust and durable
With a NIMAK clinching bracket, you get a machine that is reliably durable. High-quality components, solid construction, and excellent workmanship ensure a long service life with consistent quality.
Shorter delivery times, good price-performance ratio
With our components, most of which are manufactured in-house, and the modular design of the clinching brackets, we can respond flexibly and at short notice to your clinching or manufacturing task and offer you attractive terms and conditions.
Meets all safety regulations
All clinching brackets that leave our factory also comply with the high requirements of performance level D and thus the legally prescribed safety regulations.
Typical applications
Automotive industry
- Joining of body parts, e.g. door frames, hoods, trunk lids
- Manufacture of seat structures and reinforcements
- Combination of different materials e.g. aluminum and steel (hybrid connections)
White goods / household applications
- Manufacture of housings for washing machines, refrigerators, stoves etc.
- Joining thin-walled steel sheets, often galvanized or coated
Ventilation and air conditioning technology
- Joining sheet metal ducts, pipes and housings
Electrical industry
- Assembling housings, switch cabinets or carrier systems made of thin sheet metal
- Avoiding welding joints in sensitive electronics
